Bio
Mark Bernstein is a neurosurgeon at Toronto Western Hospital and Professor of Surgery at the University of Toronto. He currently holds the Greg Wilkins-Barrick Chair in International Surgery to help his global outreach work mainly in sub-Saharan Africa. His clinical neurosurgery practice focuses on malignant brain tumours and novel resource utilization including awake brain tumour surgery and outpatient brain tumour surgery. He also practices home-based palliative care as a member of the staff of the Temmy Latner Center for Palliative Care. He also has a Masters of Health Science in Bioethics and is interested in qualitative and outcomes research. He has published over 400 scientific papers and book chapters, and two books – one on Neuro-Oncology (in its 3rd edition) and one on Surgical Ethics.
