As neurosurgeons, what do we really do?

Neurosurgery encompasses the treatment of many parts of our nervous system. We deal with diagnosis, surgical treatment, and prevention of many neural disorders that impact the central and peripheral nervous system. This includes the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Without treatment, many of these disorders leave patients with a significantly decreased quality of life or may be fatal. By surgically treating disorders, including tumours, epilepsy, aneurysms, spinal cord conditions etc., we ensure patients can continue to live life with as little pain as possible and as much time as possible.
